MEDICAL SERVICES

ACNE
Acne comes in many forms and is caused by a wide range of factors. Our physicians treat countless cases of acne every day. Call our office to set up an appointment to find out which treatment option is best for your skin.

ROSACEA
An estimated 16 million people have rosacea and yet only a fraction of the cases are being treated appropriately. Rosacea is a common but poorly understood skin condition that often mimics acne. Signs of rosacea may include: redness on the cheeks, nose, chin and forehead, small blood vessels on the face and acne-like lesions. While there is no cure for rosacea, it can be controlled under the care of a physician. More information is available at www.rosacea.org and through our office.

WARTS

MOLES/SKIN CANCER/MELANOMA
Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States, with more than 3.5 million cases diagnosed annually.  One in five Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime, with Basal Cell Carcinoma being the most common form. A staggering 90% of non melanoma skin cancer is caused from ultra violet sun exposure.  Practicing proper skin care, protection and being educated on the appearance of skin cancer is important in the maintenance of healthy skin. Yearly exams for skin cancer are paramount in early detection and treatment and are suggested for all individuals. Most types of skin cancer and other pre-cancerous lesions are easily treatable in our office. For more information on Skin Cancer prevention and detection or to set up an appointment for a yearly exam call our office today or visit www.skincancer.org

Warning Signs: The ABCDEs of Melanoma

While yearly exams with your dermatologist are necessary in maintaining appropriate skin care, patients should also educate themselves on the warning signs of skin cancer. Early detection is key in treating skin cancer, especially Melanoma.

Moles, brown spots and growths on the skin are usually harmless — but not always. Anyone who has more than 100 moles is at greater risk for melanoma. The first signs can appear in one or more atypical moles. That's why it's so important to get to know your skin very well and to recognize any changes in the moles on your body. Look for the ABCDE signs of melanoma, and if you see one or more, make an appointment with a physician immediately.

PSORIASIS
Psoriasis is a chronic, auto-immune disease which manifests itself on the skin. While psoriasis comes in several forms, plaque psoriasis is the most common, making up 80% of all psoriasis cases. Plaque psoriasis appears as raised red patches, covered with a silvery and often scaly, white build up of dead skin cells. Our office has extensive training and experience related to the diagnosis and treatment of psoriasis. While psoriasis is a chronic condition, there are many treatment options available to patients that can dramatically improve the quality of life and even clear the condition for periods of time. Our physicians utilize the most cutting edge treatment options for psoriasis from Ultraviolet Light Treatments to Biologic Injectables (Enbrel, Humira, Amevive, Remicade and Stelara). More information on psoriasis and the treatments available can be found online at www.psoriasis.org. If you feel that you may have psoriasis or if you have been diagnosed with psoriasis but have not been receiving appropriate treatment, please contact our office today.

ECZEMA /DERMATITIS
Eczema is a blanket term for a number of different types of dermatitis or “itchy skin rashes” These types include: atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, nummular eczema, dyshidrotic eczema  and seborrheic dermatitis.  Almost all types of eczema or dermatitis are characterized by redness and itching, with some causing blistering and peeling.
